1] Workstation and Display Screen Assessments
We can carry out work assessments which ensures that individuals are working in the correct ergonomical positions. Our assessment involves looking at how the individual currently sits at their workstation and going through a checklist to see whether their workstation is in the correct position or whether any changes need to be made. We will also provide you with a write up of any recommendations we make.
2] Breathing Air Quality Checks
We test for Oxygen level, Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Oil Mist, Oil Odour and Water Vapour in line with BS 4275.
3] Noise Survey
We use both Personal Dosimeters and Sound Pressure Meters. We use Casella intrinsically safe Personal Dosimeters. The personal dosimeter is a small microphone that is clipped onto the clothing of one of your em- ployees for one hour to measure the sound levels that they are exposed to. Ideally, it needs to be someone who isn’t doing anything out of the ordinary for their working day, so that the measurements captured are representative of the average noise levels that they are exposed to.
The sound pressure meters are what we use to test the noise levels within the whole workplace. The microphone is set up in an area of the work space for one hour as well. The technician carrying out the noise survey on the day will establish where is best to place this monitor to get a good representation of the noise levels within the given environment.
All of this information is then stored and sent back to our offices where it is put into a report format for you. The report will give you recommended noise levels for workplaces as well as a comparison to your own results. The report will also then give further recommendations on steps moving forward for both the workplace itself as well as the employees.

4] Vibration Survey
We use a HVM 100 Human Vibration meter to make the measurements– and these would be made with the tools in use. An accelerometer is strapped on to the tool and measurements made and recorded.
Where practical we would measure the length of time, eg sanding or polishing a panel, with other work eg air wrench we would undertake a number of sample runs and use the HVM 100 to measure the times.
The report will include identification of the tools – where possible, and the following:
- Σ RMS m/s2
- Time per unit min
- Partial A(8) per unit m/s2
- Time to reach EAV min
- Time to reach ELV min
